Willi Maerz has arranged Felix Mendelssohn’s “Frühlingslied,” (or “Spring Song”) for four pedal harps. “Particularly popular are Mendelssohn’s numerous “Songs without Words” for piano, a term he himself coined for the genre,” says Maerz. “The ‘Spring Song’ may be the best known one from the cycle. Due to its cheerful, playful format, which lends expression to a heartfelt welcome to spring, it has become a musical icon of the season.”
