Notes from the Arranger
Sylvia with music by Leo Delibes is a full length ballet written in 1876. The first production of Sylvia in the United States was with the San Francisco ballet in 2004 to great success. The music is particularly noteworthy. Tchaikovsky is quoted as saying about the music, “What charm, what elegance, what richness of melody, rhythm, harmony.”
