Shenandoah

Kim Robertson’s enchanting arrangement of the well-known American folk song “Shenandoah” is for solo lever or pedal harp. It features a haunting harmonic pattern in the intro with interludes and an ending, making for a performance-ready piece. Arranged in the key of G, pedal harpists will have a few pedal changes but lever harpists can preset the accidental so that there are no lever changes. This piece appears Kim Robertson’s collections Shady Grove (click to purchase full collection) as well as Shall We Gather (click to purchase full collection).

All of Kim Robertson’s arrangements are beautiful and wonderfully crafted. They leave standard triad chords and plunk-plunk-plunk rhythms far behind, and treat each song with grace and magic. I highly recommend all of Kim’s learning materials and musical arrangements! Kim will show you more than you ever imagined was possible on the harp!

Patients in hospitals where I play respond very positively to this arrangement. The tune is lovely, of course, but Kim has elevated a simple folk tune into something profound and elegant.
