Songs of Childhood

$50.00

Harriet Adie has composed Songs of Childhood, a setting of six poems by Robert Louis Stevenson for solo pedal harp and soprano. Says Adie, “The general mood of the poems I chose to set was one of childish wonder, excitement and discovery of the world, and the performance should convey these emotions to the audience. The sound world takes inspiration from the modal harmonies of folk music and combines these with my love of sevenths and open fifths.” The movements include:

“Fairy Bread”
“My Shadow”
“The Flowers”
“The Swing”
“The Moon”
“Picture Books in Winter”
